Senior Pastor Rod Blomfield was born in New Zealand, the oldest of five
children and for all of his childhood was involved in “religion” but never
knowing Jesus. At thirty Rod accepted Jesus as his Lord and Saviour and
has been fervent “for the gospel” ever since.
Rod believes because of his
background that he has been given the extra grace to pursue His highest
calling in every area of his life.
During the early years Rod was very involved in Christian counseling and
local evangelism. This involved taking teams monthly to outlying towns
for evangelism meetings. During the late 80’s and early 90’s Rod spent a
year in Africa and Europe teaching in Bible Colleges, churches and
outdoor crusades and leading teams twice yearly into Singapore, Malaysia
and Indonesia, evangelizing, teaching and ministering to the local
pastors. |

Rod has pastored youth groups and
pioneered a new concept “Teen Church” in the late 80’s. Rod started a
Saturday Night Ministry Service in the Anglican Church on the Sunshine
Coast, supported by all their ministers in the area.
For twelve of his years in the
United States, Rod pastored a Southern Baptist Church in Houston, preached in
many churches, worked with Family and Children’s Services in New York and
Florida, as a mental health counselor in the penal system, therapeutic
foster parent, trainer, and ultimately adopted six children during this
time, following the seven of his own and still continued to lead mission
teams from the States to Haiti and Kenya. Rod was the associate pastor of
a thriving United Methodist Church in Augusta, Georgia before returning to
Australia to pastor in Hills Wesleyan and for last two and a half years at
South Gate. While Rod has a vast experience in the ministry field, he also
is an ordained minister since 1987 and holds an Advanced Diploma in
Counseling (A.I.P.C.) |
